Reflection for the Week - March 9

Fundamentalists and evangelicals often tend to think that the God of the biblical text can do anything God wants. Potentially, this might be true, but realistically it’s not. God is portrayed, for instance, by the text as a God of promise and when a promise is made, limits are set in place. Thus, God as promisor is committed to certain actions and thus restricted by others.
