Divine action may take place within the complexity
of what is already given in the world in order to persuade us to be receptive
to what is “actually possible.” A valid perception of DA is thus likely to be
“seen” in broader patterns of potential God directions, rather than the
specific details of what we assume as the “God acts” for us as individuals. The
latter comprises a theological superstition, which often dominates in Christian
circles when it comes to God’s “intervention” in our daily lives. This won’t do
when it comes to formulating a legitimate account of DA. We simply need to do
more work on this monumental issue, while embracing mystery, but not creating
it when it’s not there.
