Lying at the very heart of her selfhood was the need for a new relationship with herself, concerning memory, mourning and celebration, and forgiveness. It was imperative that she be “released” into the lightness and significance of her present and future actions. So, first a move towards forgiving herself, then a response to others, and finally, an embrace of the mystery of God’s offer of love and grace. This trajectory has the capacity to bring together the vertical and horizontal realities, which then allow her to step into the tension filled being and becoming renewed.
