We will be convening here at the ZigZag café, Suisse, on Thursdays for conversation and dialogue. I invite you to stop by every Thursday for the question of the day. Your thoughts and participation are most welcome. Pull up a stool, avec un café, un thé, ou un chocolat chaud, et un croissant, and join in here on Thursday at the ZZ café.
For today:
How would you describe the role of the Holy Spirit today?

Empowering the righteous life (Rom 8:13). "Leading" the saints in God-honoring lifestyle (Rom 8:14). Providing confirmation of son/daughtership to those who are God's children (Rom 8:16). Interceding for the saints (Rom. 8:26). It seems that the "miraculous" signs of the Spirit are not extremely prevalent in the developed western world -though I know some who would disagree. Regardless, I hear reports of the miraculous in areas of the globe where Christianity is being introduced -perhaps for the first time. Makes me wonder if he continues to play the role of authenticating and establishing Christianity on new frontiers as he did to the first hearers of the gospel (Hebrews 2:4).
QuestionHeir,
Thanks for this helpful comment. I find it intriguing that the flesh/spirit contrast is so prevalent in this Romans section. If you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body you will live. Seems like "you" plays a key role here too.
I like what you say about the "new frontiers". Could be.
