The ZigZag Café - May 17

We will be convening here at the ZigZag café, Suisse, on Thursdays for conversation and dialogue. I invite you to stop by every Thursday for the question of the day. Your thoughts and participation are most welcome. Pull up a stool, avec un café, un thé, ou un chocolat chaud, et un croissant, and join in here on Thursday at the ZZ café.

For today:

How do you hear from God?

Funny. My minister and I had this conversation (sort of) yesterday at lunch. I was telling him my praying has fallen. He asked me about prayer. I said I read scripture, meditate on it, listen; sit in silence; and then try to speak honestly to God. I hear in the reading, the meditation, the silence, and then from the words of those with whom I have a spiritual connection, some of whom do not consider themselves "Christian."

Carter,
Thanks. Interesting ways of hearing!

Quite often I am deaf. Or refuse to listen. I am occasionally convinced that I should call or visit someone, and I don't. Then something happens that tells me I was ignoring the prompting of God.

Carter,
It's definitely hard to hear and to listen. Lots of clutter in and around us. The pathway is albeit sometimes clear, but it's easier not to take it.

and yet, there is still grace--abounding, undeserved, like gentle rain or snow that surrounds.
