What’s happening to our world? We find ourselves in unprecedented times. Seems we’ve never been here before. Sure, the world has been a mess at many other times, but the cumulative degree of the mess this time, in my view, is unprecedented. Countries are crumbling and in turmoil, natural catastrophes are creating havoc and destruction, governments are run by incompetent and sometimes corrupt elected officials, everything is awfully close to being a consumer product, and much of the Western church is not only ineffective and woefully impoverished, but it is fading away and its very existence and sustainability are under threat. Does it matter? Wonder where it’s all going? If you have time, read Living Apocalypse.

Hi,
we are not in a World War right now. Sure, we might soon end up in one. But it is not the time yet to turn off the lights. It was much worse 60 years ago, I hope we dont go back to similar conditions. If so, then I will turn off the lights too, probably.
Sisyphos,
Thanks. Nice to read some affirmation from you!
I share your resistance but I am dont think the world is worse. I think it is how it had always been. Maybe there is some progress even but it seems that it is a fragile one.
Sisyphos,
I agree. In some ways the world is worse and in some ways better. In the sense of "cumulative degree" in the post, at least as far as the things mentioned go, I think it leans more towards worse.
