We will be convening here at the ZigZag café, Suisse, on Thursdays for conversation and dialogue. I invite you to stop by every Thursday for the question of the day. Your thoughts and participation are most welcome. Pull up a stool, avec un café, un thé, ou un chocolat chaud, et un croissant, and join in here on Thursday at the ZZ café.
For today:
Affirming that there is much good, when considering all the horror, suffering, and tragedy in the world, do you find it easier or harder to believe in God?

When I affirm the good amid the bad, I concede that the problem of good is just as boggling as the problem of evil, if not more so; in which case, yes, I find belief in God easier, if not practically a necessity.
Renea,
Thanks. Good point.
I was wondering if a response - sometimes easier and sometimes harder - it depends on the context - might be fitting.
Reflection on and living the good and bad bring about an unsettled perspective. Existential, rational, and imaginative variations pull me in one direction and then another.
Renea,
Another thought. The variations related to the easier and harder may not always be readily connected to respectively the good and the bad.
Hmmmm. Yeah. I think my response focuses mostly on what is logically/rationally easier, not emotionally/existentially easier.
I think we readily forget about the good when we're faced with the bad, and that disciplining ourselves to slow down and recollect perspective is helpful in all our relationships, including God.
Renea,
True, we often get too far ahead of ourselves and down a particular line, which tends to blind us to other options.
Renea,
On another note, I hope you're doing well and that the studies are proving challenging and valuable.
