Reflection for the Week

Finding an original is like looking for the first pair of Levis or the first aspirin. God is the only Being, so it seems to me, who is capable of originality. But what is breathtaking is that out of what precedes us, we can produce something new. Sedimentation therefore shrouds who we are and what we do, yet innovation persists to contribute to life in discovering more and more what can be, from what already is.

Everything is a copy of a copy of a copy.

Part of a faulty originality stems from notions of creation ex nihilo, no? Versus originality as "fresh" and "innovative" and "new" with what already is. It's what emerges that's branded "original".

"Trying too hard" is unadulterated imitation without creative playfulness.

Joshua,
Just back home. Thanks. True. I like the "fresh" and "innovative" which seems good enough to bring about life change and to create someone new.
