Following in the footsteps of Christ is never a simple matter of obedience. Being in community with God brings about a transformation that shapes the whole of who we are in new ways. Call this the development of the character of Christ likeness. This means that we will, through the power of the Holy Spirit, begin to choose to obey, not out of rule keeping obligation, but because this is actually becoming who we are. Transformed character and identity is God’s way for us, and in the light of our destiny to image Christ, there is something precious and revolutionary happening right now that is to work itself out through us into the world.
